Hot Topic Alert: Homeowner Associations
Over half owner occupied households in the U.S. are part of a homeowner association (HOA). HOAs provide a variety of services to the community in which it belongs—lawn maintenance, snow removal and uniformity in home appearance just to name a few. However, HOAs with too many restrictions may deter potential buyers. And in 21 states HOAs have “super liens” for unpaid assessments, meaning the HOA could foreclose on properties before a lender. For more information, contact Adriann Murawski or 202-383-1068. |

Message from the GAD Chair
|
Mark J. Quarry
GAD Chair Cincinnati Area Board OF REALTORS®
|
Greetings GAD Nation! Thank you to everyone who completed the 2016 GAD Institute Evaluation. Not only was Nashville the largest Institute in number of attendees, the Nashville Institute also set a new record of evaluations with 125! Your feedback is extremely important as it is the primary tool the GAD Advisory Group will use in planning the 2017 GAD Institute in West Palm Beach.
September
It’s a great song by Earth, Wind & Fire, but the month of September is also a busy month for all of us. Political campaigns are in full swing, candidate interviews are conducted (if they haven’t been already) and state association conventions and meetings take place. As you attend your meetings, please be the “eyes and ears” of GAD Nation. As you know, it’s usually only a matter of time before issues and challenges in one part of the country find their way to others. Bring those reports back to us at the 2016 REALTORS® Conference & Expo in Orlando and share the information with your colleagues during our GAD breakouts.
GAD Advisory Group (AG)
In the next few weeks, Vice Chair Cady Thomas and I will be appointing new members to the GAD Advisory Group. Thanks to everyone who have emailed me and expressed interest in serving. The number and quality of our colleagues wanting to serve is inspiring and means great things lie ahead for all of GAD Nation in the future. While we unfortunately don’t have enough open slots for everyone, please don’t despair. Other opportunities to serve on a subcommittee or task force this year can still occur.
I look forward to seeing you at the REALTORS® Conference & Expo in Orlando November 4-7. In the meantime, please email Kyle Lambert London with any comments, ideas or suggestions. See you soon!
