Dates & Deadlines

nav_red_arrow.gif Dec. 16 & 31: Year-End RPAC Transmittal Deadlines
December 31 is the final deadline for individuals to be recognized as RPAC Major Investors or for a state to receive credit towards its 2016 fundraising goal. NAR requires that all funds, with appropriate back-up documentation, be received in the Chicago finance office by close of business on December 16 for you to be individually recognized and your state to receive credit. For questions regarding RPAC deadlines, please contact Jackie Zaporowski or Debbie Frey.

nav_red_arrow.gif Dec. 31 & Jan 31: RPAC Hall of Fame Deadlines
The RPAC Hall of Fame eligibility deadline is December 31. Eligible members and staff must meet the $25,000 minimum threshold by the end of the previous fundraising year. The deadline for the nomination form to be submitted to NAR by the state remains January 31 of each year. To access the guidelines and nomination form, please visit RPAC Hall of Fame. For questions regarding the Hall of Fame, or to verify your investment history total, please contact Jackie Zaporowski.

nav_red_arrow.gif Jan. 31: 2017 REALTOR® Party Game Changer Deadline
The REALTOR® Party Game Changer Program is for state or local associations that may have a great, original public policy, advocacy or outreach idea relating to real estate, but it still may not neatly fall under the existing grant options within the REALTOR® Party programs. NAR looks for new programs, events or ideas that change the way business is typically conducted. In addition, Game Changer ideas should be ones that can be replicated by other states and local associations. Two rounds of applications are reviewed each year (deadlines of January 31 and July 31) for dollar amounts up to $15,000. If you have a Game Changing idea, please consider filling out an application. For more information, contact Kyle Lambert London at 202-383-1203.

For more information, contact Joe Maheady at 202-383-1006.

nav_red_arrow.gif 2017 Candidate Training Academies
Plan for 2017 now and offer NAR’s Candidate Training Academy at your association. NAR has funding for 15 classes in 2017; a $5000 value for your members and association.  Bring NAR’s skilled instructors to your state or local association for this day-long course to train REALTOR®-friendly candidates in what it takes to run for office and implement a successful campaign.  These offerings are available on a first come, first served basis and fill up quickly.  Contact Kyle Lambert London for questions or to bring this course to your board.

nav_red_arrow.gif 2017 REALTOR® Party New GAD & AE Orientation

nav_red_arrow.gif Regulatory Terms to Know
It’s transition time in Washington, as one administration leaves and another comes in. You’ve been hearing a lot about what’s happening on the Hill, but what about the agencies? NAR’s Regulatory and Industry Relations team has put together a cheat sheet of regulatory terms to know—words you’ll be hearing and reading about the next few weeks as things settle down.

RPAC Update

nav_red_arrow.gif New National RPAC Fundraising Goal-State Deadline
During the REALTOR® Party Training Conference in San Francisco, State RPAC Chairs declared their state’s RPAC Fundraising Goal. If you are a state GAD, please be sure to note that states have until January 9 to revise their goal to ensure it is higher than the total the state raised in 2016, in order to qualify for recognition in 2017. For questions regarding the goal, or to revise your state’s goal, please contact Lauren Facemire.

nav_red_arrow.gif Phone-A-Friend for RPAC Fundraising Grants for State and Local Associations
Beginning in 2017, your association can increase RPAC receipts, participation and Major Investors by applying for grants of up to $500 annually (subject to state law). Use these grants to help fund member-to-member phone bank outreach to help meet RPAC fundraising, participation and Major Investor goals. Associations will also receive the training, support and software they need to implement their phone banks. For questions regarding this grant, please contact Kanoa Naehu.

GAD Chair
Cincinnati Area Board OF REALTORS®

Hi fellow GADs!  Hope you had a blessed Thanksgiving.  It was nice seeing many of you at the 2016 REALTORS® Conference & Expo in Orlando.  For those who couldn’t attend, here’s a recap.

Special and grateful thanks to Florida REALTORS® for sponsoring our GAD Reception at The Pub!  It was great fun.

As usual, our GAD Meeting on Saturday was packed with information.  Our fellow GADs serving on NAR committees provided updates and facilitated discussion on several motions scheduled for vote by NAR’s Board of Directors.

Local and State Breakouts took place, followed by a panel discussion with Rick Asnani, led by Vice Chair Cady Thomas about “Navigating the Election Aftermath.”  This was particularly interesting since it occurred prior to November 8.

Speaking of the election, if you haven’t already, I invite you to check out REALTOR® Party Campaign Coverage 2016 on the REALTOR® Action Center. You can also watch the Post-Election Live Webcast with NAR’s Senior Vice President Jerry Giovaniello and NAR Political Consultant Doug Sosnik and view a state-by-state breakdown of election results. Special congratulations to the Missouri REALTORS® CEO John Sebree and Missourians for Fair Taxation on the successful passage of a constitutional amendment prohibiting new state and local sales, use or similar taxes on services!

Finally, the GAD Advisory Group held its first in-person meeting and continued work on planning the 2017 GAD Institute to be held in West Palm Beach, FL, on July 11-14, 2017 and implementation of some of the comments and suggestions made from the Nashville Institute.

If you have any additional ideas or suggestions, please contact me at mquarry@cabr.org, GAD Vice Chair Cady Thomas or Kyle Lambert-London.  I wish each of you and your families a joyous and safe Christmas, Hanukkah and holiday season.
