nav_red_arrow.gif Jan 16-23: REALTOR® Party Survey
NAR will be conducting an online survey this month to assess the performance and direction of the REALTOR® Party. GADs, Executive Officers, Association Executives and various state and local presidents and committee chairs will be invited to take the survey.  Please take a few minutes from your day to share your opinions!  You will be able to take the poll any time between January 16 and January 23.  Be on the lookout for an email invitation with a link to the survey. This is your opportunity to provide input on the performance and direction of REALTOR® Party programs.  We hope you will participate!

nav_red_arrow.gif Jan. 31: 2017 REALTOR® Party Game Changer Applications
The REALTOR® Party Game Changer Program originated from the thought that a state or local association may have a great, original public policy, advocacy or outreach idea relating to real estate, but it still may not neatly fall under the existing grant options within the REALTOR® Party programs. For that reason, the REALTOR® Party Game Changer Program was established. NAR looks for new programs, events or ideas that change the way business is typically conducted. In addition, Game Changer ideas should be ones that can be replicated with other states and local associations. Two rounds of applications are reviewed each year (deadlines of January 31 and July 31) for dollar amounts up to $15,000. If you have a Game Changing idea, please consider filling out an application.  For more information, contact Kyle Lambert London at 202-383-1203.

nav_red_arrow.gif Jan. 31: RPAC Hall of Fame Nomination Deadline

RPAC Update

nav_red_arrow.gif 2017 State and Local Triple Crown and President’s Cup Award Criteria
The 2016 RPAC State Fundraising Partnership Goal Presidential Advisory Group recommended that beginning in 2017, NAR simplify all state and local awards down to include only the Triple Crown and President’s Cup Awards. In early December, during the REALTOR® Party Training Conference, State RPAC Chairs “declared” their respective state 2017 RPAC Fundraising Goals, the RPAC Fundraising Trustees Committee set the remaining RPAC goals and the REALTOR® Party Member Involvement Committee set the State and Local President’s Cup goals for advocacy. NAR Staff are compiling all of the State RPAC goals and will send out a detailed email in early January outlining the goals necessary to achieve the 2017 Local and State Triple Crown and President’s Cup awards. For more information, contact Lauren Facemire, Managing Director for RPAC, or Jim MacGregor, Managing Director for Grassroots.

nav_red_arrow.gif Jan. 25, RPAC Fundraising Training Webinar: RPAC & The Law
Fundraising for a political action committee is exciting and fun, but it also comes with a host of federal and state laws that must be followed. Join Ralph Holmen, NAR's Associate General Counsel, on Jan. 25 at 3 PM EST for a webinar that will address the most important legal issues related to political fundraising. Whether you are new to political fundraising or have years of experience, this webinar will help you navigate critical campaign finance laws. Click here to register. For more information, contact Liz Demorest.

nav_red_arrow.gif 2017 President’s Circle Update
President’s Circle has launched its first round of targets for 2017 to President’s Circle members. During this round, President’s Circle members may invest $500 in one of the four national party committees in honor of any Member of Congress. FPCs have the option of contributing $500 directly to the Member of Congress they serve as FPC. (An FPC must choose either a $500 contribution to their Member of Congress OR a National Party Committee—they cannot do both.) For more information, contact Kelly O’Donnell at 202-383-7510 or Maggie FitzGerald at 202-383-1078.

Message from the GAD Chair

Mark J. Quarry
GAD Chair
Cincinnati Area Board OF REALTORS®

2017 Greetings my dear GAD colleagues!  I hope you had a wonderful Christmas, Hanukkah and holiday break.

President-elect Donald Trump will be inaugurated January 20, 2017 as America’s 45th President; the 115th Congress and state legislatures are now in session; and new local elected officials have taken office all across the country.  So, let’s get back to work.

First and foremost, sometime during the January 12-19 timeframe, I ask you to be looking out for a special electronic survey that will be emailed to the entire GAD community.  A PAG (Presidential Advisory Group) has been formed and is requesting we provide input on REALTOR® Party programming issues.  The PAG will be meeting at the end of January.

This is a great opportunity to provide NAR with meaningful insight on changes, modifications or enhancements we would like made to the REALTOR® Party services and tools available to associations.  GAD Nation has never been shy expressing our opinions, so please make sure you respond to this survey!

Also, now that we’re in 2017, make sure to pay attention to the “Dates and Deadlines” portion of the GADFly.  Don’t miss out on taking advantage of any of the programs available to us, whether its Game Changer Grant applications, REALTOR® Champions course, Candidate Training Academy or any of the other REALTOR® Party Tools.  These are just some of the resources at our disposal that provide important and visible benefits to our REALTOR® Members and put us in a class by ourselves when it comes to advocacy.  A recent Politico article highlights our influence relative to the Mortgage Interest Deduction and tax reform in the 115th Congress.

If you have any additional ideas or suggestions, please contact me, GAD Chair Mark Quarry, GAD Vice Chair Cady Thomas or Kyle Lambert-London.
