A Big Win for REALTORS®, Future Homebuyers
Once again the voices of the REALTORS® were heard loud and clear on Capitol Hill, and we scored a big win for future homeowners! Thanks to the more than 139,000 REALTORS®, or 15% of our members, across the nation, the Housing Opportunity through Modernization Act of 2016, H.R. 3700, passed the U.S. Senate by unanimous consent, and was signed into law by President Obama on July 29, 2016

Smart Moves Change North Carolina REALTORS®’ Game
Instead of each local association individual advocacy and consumer outreach plans, North Carolina REALTORS®, the state association, used a Game Changer Grant to create a strong single program called “NC REALTORS®: The Smart Move” to promote public understanding of the value of using a REALTOR®, and to position REALTORS® as the premier real estate advocacy resource and a key community partner.

New York REALTORS® Turn Smart Growth Challenge into Opportunity
The eight neighborhoods comprising Bronx Community Board 9 (BXCB9) are 22% denser in population than the Bronx overall, and have very little vacant land available to develop.  Using a series of Smart Growth Action Grants, the Bronx-Manhattan North Association of REALTORS® partnered with BXCB9 to develop a comprehensive plan, and help ensure that growth will benefit existing communities, new residents and businesses.

Hopkinsville Goes to the Dogs with the Help of a Placemaking Grant
On June 2, 2016, the Hopkinsville Dog Park had its official ribbon-cutting ceremony, with plenty of dogs in attendance, ready to romp.  It was all the idea of the 56-member Hopkinsville Christian & Todd County Association of REALTORS® and a Placemaking Micro-Grant from the REALTOR® Party helped make it a reality.

Lenders Can Share Closing Forms, CFPB Says
REALTORS® chalk up a victory in Washington as the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau says it’s appropriate for lenders and title officers to share the closing disclosure with real estate agents in residential transactions and not withhold the form for privacy reasons. The ruling is a top story in The Voice for Real Estate news video. Other stories look at NAR’s FHA condo bill win, the availability of funds under the Rural Housing Service’s program for making loans directly to low-income households, and the expansion of the Treasury Department’s anti-money laundering effort in real estate.
