Campaign Coverage 2016: The REALTOR® Party Spoke Loud & Clear
While it’s true that the 2016 election is over, don’t get too relaxed. The REALTOR® Party never stops working! We won 75 percent of the state and local races we supported so far. Last night, we elected 34 REALTORS® to public office…and counting! Our results were impressive, and we hope you’ll check them out at www.realtoractioncenter.com/elections. Clearly, the REALTOR® Party made a positive difference in races and issue campaigns across the country, but our work has just begun.

Missouri REALTORS® Form Coalition to Fight Sales tax on Services
Missouri REALTORS® are no stranger to the threat of a sales tax on services. With the help of a REALTOR® Party Issues Mobilization Grant and coalition support, the 20,000-member association successfully amended the state constitution to ban a sales tax on services. By appealing to the general public, first to get the referendum on the ballot, and then for votes in its favor, Missouri REALTORS® found strength in numbers.

Washington REALTORS® Support One of Their Own for County Council
For the 1,700-member Clark County Association of REALTORS® (CCAR) in southwest Washington state, supporting John Blom for County Council was a no-brainer.  As REALTOR® Champions go, there could hardly be a more obvious choice—active in NAR, RPAC, CCAR and its Government Affairs Committee. When John decided to run for office, the REALTORS® were there to support him through the REALTOR® Party’s Independent Expenditure program.

Hays REALTORS® Use Land Use Initiative to Fine Tune Comprehensive Plan
Hays, Kansas has been updating its existing zoning and subdivision regulations to align with the Comprehensive Plan it adopted in 2012. With its expertise in the field of real estate, and in defense of public property rights, the 80-member Hays Board of REALTORS® used the REALTOR® Party’s Land Use Initiative to help bring clarity, vision and fairness to the process.

REALTORS® Need to Know the Rules When It Comes to Lead Pipes
In 1986, the use of lead in water pipes was banned. However, the recent Flint, MI, water crisis put a national spotlight on lead in pipes. It is estimated that there are 6.1 million lead-containing water service lines in use providing water to 15 to 22 million people.
