Washington REALTORS® Help Revitalize Downtown Bellingham
Using a REALTOR® Party Smart Growth Action Grant, the Whatcom County Association of REALTORS® (WA) was a major sponsor of a dynamic placemaking competition that drew 24 participants and more than 500 community members. Judging from its success, the REALTORS® know it will make an impact—and plan to make it an annual event.

Wyoming REALTORS® Derail Tax on Services Threat with Timely Advocacy
When a bill proposing a tax on all services that had expired in the statehouse last fall suddenly came back to life with no debate or public testimony, the Wyoming Association of REALTORS® didn’t cross its fingers and hope for the best. Member response to a call for action may have been just what the House Revenue Committee needed to hear.

Brown Congratulates Carson as New HUD Chief
NAR President Bill Brown said he looks forward to working with Dr. Ben Carson, who was confirmed as secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development last week. As a first order of business, NAR would like to see the quarter-point decrease in FHA insurance premiums reinstated. Details are in the latest Voice for Real Estate news video from NAR, which also looks at President Donald Trump’s speech to Congress two weeks ago. In that speech, President Trump touched on issues important to real estate, including infrastructure funding, tax reform, health insurance reform and deregulation.

Tax Reform 2017 – What NAR FPCs Need to Know and Can Do Now
With a new president in the White House who campaigned on huge tax cuts, and Republican majorities in the House and Senate who have long been waiting for tax reform, 2017 may be the year it finally moves forward. However, major storm clouds loom on the horizon for residential real estate, while both big possibilities and grave dangers may be in store for commercial and investment real property. In this hour-long webinar, NAR Sr. Policy Representative Evan Liddiard briefed FPCs on where tax reform is heading and what they can do now to begin engaging with their Member of Congress to help produce the best outcome for REALTORS®.
