Reforming the Tax Code & Protecting Homeowners |
Most can agree that America needs tax reform, but it’s important to us that we seek to assure that tax reforms support the goals of homeownership and the freedom to buy, maintain and sell real estate. The current tax reform plan misses the mark, and we need to be prepared to tell Congress to reform our tax code AND protect middle-class homeowners.

Health Care Executive Order Signed |
You may have seen today’s White House announcement about expanding health coverage opportunities. Association Health Plans (AHP) have long offered promise for small business owners and self-employed individuals seeking affordable health coverage. While the Executive Order’s AHP provision does not appear to apply to independent contractors, NAR will continue to work with the Administration and Congress on regulatory and legislative changes needed to make Association Health Plans a workable option for REALTORS®, and we will provide more information as it becomes available. In the meantime, if you have concerns about your own health care coverage, we encourage you to learn more about the REALTORS® Insurance Marketplace. |

Voice for Real Estate: Tax Reform: NAR Ramping Up to Protect Homeowners
|
NAR is launching a full-court press to let Congress know the tax reform framework that was introduced in late September will hurt most middle-income homeowners. That’s because it would do away with all itemized deductions except for the deductions for mortgage interest and charitable giving. Although NAR supports keeping MID in place, the loss of the other deductions, particularly the deduction for state and local taxes, would mean most homeowners will opt to take the standard deduction. Details in the latest Voice for Real Estate news video from NAR. |
