Last week during the 2017 REALTORS® Conference & Expo in Chicago, tax reform discussions took a major step forward as Congressional leaders released a legislative proposal for an overhaul of the American tax code. NAR is opposed to the tax reform legislation unveiled in the last week, as it is a direct threat to consumers, homeowners and our businesses. We cannot sit back and react to change. We need all hands on deck to Own It! as we tell Congress to reform our tax code and protect hardworking homeowners.

Not only will millions of homeowners not benefit from the proposal, many will get a tax increase. Quad Cities REALTORS® Put Their Marketing & Negotiation Skills to Work to Promote Schools |
Since school quality plays such a large role in home buying decisions, the Quad Cities Area REALTOR® Association decided to put their marketing and negotiation skills to work to promote their area schools. They began by inviting major employers, mayors and school superintendents in the 23-community area to a conference to have a frank discussion about diversity, inclusion and steering. The conference resulted in plans to build a robust website featuring comprehensive information on each school that will help families make informed decisions about where they want to live. |

REALTORS® in Ottumwa, Iowa Help Bring Life Back to Their Downtown |
With a Smart Growth Action Grant, money of their own, elbow grease and lots of enthusiasm, the South East Iowa Regional Board of REALTORS® partnered with the Better Block Foundation and other community leaders to host the Main Street Ottumwa Better Block Party. “Overnight, our quiet and struggling downtown commercial area became a place to come together to shop, to eat, to play games, to enjoy some music, and even dance!” The next steps are to transform what they learned from the weekend event into lasting improvements for Ottumwa’s downtown commercial area. |

NAR is the process of renaming, redesigning and reorganizing the REALTOR® Action Center website. The new REALTORParty.com will be a holistic website that provides advocacy materials for state and local REALTOR® Association staff, and facilitates two-way opportunities to engage individual REALTORS® and associations in advocacy. In addition to a new web address, the new website will be feature new navigation, design and more social content. |
