Rental Assistance Needed for Renters & Housing Providers Alike
Last week, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention declared a “temporary halt to residential evictions to prevent the further spread of COVID-19,” which applies to all residential housing. This may be helpful to renters in the short-term. But property owners will struggle to meet their financial obligations, and when the moratorium expires, renters will struggle to make up back rent. This has the potential to turn this pandemic into a significant housing crisis come 2021.

Austin REALTORS® Help Neighboring Pflugerville Residents to Keep Property Taxes Low
Just north of Austin, the City Council of Pflugerville, Texas, was proposing to approve a property tax rate representing a 7% increase in revenue. The Austin Board of REALTORS®, recognizing that homeowners should not have to shoulder the additional tax burden during times of such economic stress and uncertainty, got the message through to Pflugerville’s elected officials with help from the Advocacy Everywhere program.
