The bipartisan infrastructure bill, passed by Congress last week, includes a historic $65 billion investment in broadband. Our country has a dire need for broadband expansion, and NAR has long championed this cause. This new funding will ensure all communities have affordable access to a world-class communications infrastructure. |

Three years ago, NAR and FEMA signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to collaborate and contribute to public awareness about flood resiliency and insurance. The NFIP’s new Risk Rating 2.0 system is one result of this collaboration. NFIP Senior Executive David Maurstad joined the NAR Insurance Committee in San Diego today to discuss our shared commitment to ensuring REALTORS® and their clients are informed and prepared. |

The NAR State and Local Independent Expenditure Program provides funds that state and local associations can use to support REALTOR® champions for political office. This year, the program has enabled participation in 203 campaigns, a record for a post-presidential off-year election. 113 of those campaigns were decided on Election Day – November 2 – with a 65 percent win rate. |

NAR joined The Memorial Foundation in late October to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial in Washington, D.C. Along with attending the anniversary dinner, NAR leaders joined U.S. President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and other dignitaries for a ceremony at the memorial on the National Mall. NAR was one of the first organizations to support the memorial’s construction, donating $1 million to the project. |

Bridge Association of REALTORS® Defeats Tenant Opportunity to Purchase Legislation |
The Bridge Association of REALTORS® knew proposed legislation giving tenants in Berkeley, California, the rights of first offer and first refusal when a landlord seeks to sell a rental property would be devastating – not only to private property rights and the local housing market, but as the likely catalyst of a chain reaction throughout the state and across the nation. They also understood that it would disproportionately harm people of color. Taking no chances, the association used several REALTOR® Party resources to assess the risks and prevent its passage. |

Glendale Association of REALTORS® Thwarts Threat of a Municipal Rent Registry |
There were plenty of reasons that the proposed creation of a rental registry was bad news for Glendale, the third largest city in L.A. County. It was not only unnecessary, but it was also going to be costly, cumbersome, and, most alarming, it would expose personal data to public scrutiny. The Glendale Association of REALTORS® understood these threats and the importance of defeating the measure – and, using multiple REALTOR® Party resources, they did. |
